Try to run it using the power adapter first. My bad, I should have suggested that.....I've seen it in the past. The power light blinks when plugged in but the hard drive light does not light up. Because it is on the disk, the computer can turn off completely, and use no power at all.

im not sure but since i installed windows vista sp1 from windows update (i bought a laptop hp pavilion) i have that problem. My Laptop Is Hibernating By Itself For me, this can take 2 minutes just to get to the point where I can start opening web browsers, and all the other programs I use, which usually takes another Hibernation is enabled in Power Options, and the schedule is set to go to Standby after 45 min.
