For me it was the solution, the OP didn't show his specs (quad-core 8gb pc). does not solve it… neither deleting %temp%, etc.Side note: The PC has no Internet connection and must have never ever been connected (for security reasons), it must be allways isolated form Actually with method 2.1 and 2.2 windows is finally updating and installing ( more than 1gb updates).Thanks a lot Mr. weblink

File sizes seem to be much bigger starting with Sept, and just keep getting larger after that. It's assumed the same KB numbers for x64 will work for x64 but is untested. In the end you will likely want to copy this to a USB key for next time. This is by far the most helpful article on this issue! Just came here to say that following the above steps 0-5 totally worked for me and the updater responded normally after only a few minutes. I comes up with ID: wouttempadmin. check over here I installed them in the order listed in one sitting without rebooting.

This update contains some improvements to Windows Update Client in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Third time round there were 79 updates. I am running a few Windows 7 machines with SP1 (HP Z800's) from 2012 that were NEVER updated. At Step 2 I tried the install and cancelled it twice because I thought it was hung up.
I had turned off Windows Update early in the year to get it to stop trying to install Windows 10. Set the computer to never sleep when plugged in.
